This Phuket itinerary for a family holiday will help you to plan your next holiday to Phuket. Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is the perfect place to start for a Thailand family holiday. We will show you where to travel in Phuket and the best Phuket family hotels. Let us take the stress out of your planning…
All Phuket activities and hotels mentioned here have been tried and tested for you. We did this same itinerary over 5 weeks. All the highlights of our 5 weeks are included and condensed into a 14 day Phuket itinerary for a family. You could easily extend your stay in each destination if you are planning a longer trip to Phuket.
Days 1 – 4 Laguna Phuket
Start your family holiday to Phuket on the north west of Phuket island on beautiful Bang Tao beach. Laguna Phuket has everything you will need for a family holiday with numerous restaurants, beach bars, supermarkets and family activities on the doorstep. Don’t miss the stunning sunsets on the beach, check out Catch Beach Club for sundowners.
Where to stay in Laguna Phuket
Laguna Phuket has 8 luxury hotels to choose from. We stayed at the stunning Angsana Laguna Phuket and cannot recommend it enough. A sprawling resort built around a lagoon, on the beach with multiple restaurants, spa and kids club. This Phuket family resort is the perfect start to your Phuket holiday.
For more information on the Angsana Laguna Phuket read our Hotel Review here from our stay in 2021.

There are many fun activities in this area. Here are some of our family favourites:
- Blue Tree Waterpark Phuket – only about 5-10mins away in a taxi.
- Phuket Adventures Mini Golf – in Bang Tao
- Ma Doo Bua lily pad cafe
- Green Elephant Sanctuary Park

Days 4 – 7 Karon or Kata Beach
We stayed in both places during our time in Phuket. However, the beaches are close to each other. Our advice to save moving around too much would be to just choose one. Karon beach is part of the Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort so although it is a public beach it is attached to the hotel. Kata beach is a gorgeous 1.5km long stretch of white sand which is popular with surfers and has a very laid-back vibe. These beaches should definitely be planned in on a Phuket itinerary for a family.
Where to stay in Karon and Kata Beach
We stayed at the stunning Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort in Karon. It is a huge resort full of activities and the best kids club we came across in Phuket! The only drawback with this resort is that there isn’t anywhere nearby you can walk to. However, with the restaurants, pools and stunning beach it does have everything you need! You can read our review of Le Meridien Phuket Beach resort here.
In Kata Beach we stayed at the more budget-friendly Ozo Hotel Kata Beach which is a child’s paradise. It has its own mini waterpark and splash park as well as being footsteps from the beach. Surrounding the hotel are many restaurants, bars and a little food market area that you can easily walk to. We loved the family rooms with bunk beds too. You can read our review of Ozo Kata Beach here.
Family Activities in Karon and Kata Beach
Some of our favourite family activities when we were in this area were:
- Visit to Big Buddha Phuket
- ATV Driving in the jungle
- Karon view point at sunset
- Coral Island Boat Trip
- Dinner at The Boathouse Kata Beach
Days 8 – 11 Rawai Phuket
Rawai is in the south of Phuket island and was probably our favourite area during our 5 week stay. Rawai has a very relaxed vibe with lots of traditional Thai restaurants, beach bars and shacks and is low-key. Also home to the best beach in Phuket – in our opinion! Nai Harn beach is simply stunning, a big cove surrounded by coconut and palm trees and loved by many surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Check our post 5-best beaches in Phuket for some of our other favourites.

Another of our absolute favourite family resorts in Phuket was the Vijitt Resort. The hotel is made up of individual villas or bungalows some with their own pools. All the accommodation is spread out offering privacy and a rainforest atmosphere. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the main sights as well as having a gorgeous spa, breathtaking infinity pool and being on a small beach. There is a big kids club and loads of space for kids to run around freely. This hotel was definitely a highlight of our time in Rawai. Read our review of the Vijitt Resort here for more information.
Family Activities in Rawai
- Eat dinner at Rawai Fish Market
- Watch the sunset at Promthep Cape
- Spend a day on Nai Harn Beach
Days 12 – 14 Siray Bay
Siray Bay is on the west coast of Phuket close to Phuket town. It is the perfect tranquil spot to end a busy time in Phuket with this Phuket itinerary for a family. We stayed at The Westin Siray Bay which is a stunning cliffside resort with sunrise views. It has the most beautiful infinity pools overlooking the ocean, a kids club and incredible rooms some with their own private pool. As well as having its own small, private beach. You can read our full review of The Westin Siray Bay here.
Family Activities in Siray Bay
- Wander around Phuket Town
- Visit the Three Monkeys Restaurant for a jungle experience
- Go on a Skywalk or Zipline at Hanuman World (same location as Three Monkeys)
