We have spent many weekends and longer holidays in Thailand and despite travelling to numerous other countries it is a place we keep returning to.
Here are some ideas of some areas we have visited, hotels we stayed in and things we have done whilst there. This post will help you to decide where to go in Thailand. If you are thinking about going for Christmas then make sure you check out our post on Thailand for Christmas – is it a good idea.
2 week Phuket itinerary for a family holiday
Chiang Mai
The largest city in Northern Thailand with a lot of history still with old city walls and temples. The local area is full of natural beauty with mountains, rice paddies, waterfalls and parks. Chiang Mai should be high on your Thailand itinerary list.
Koh Lanta
A large island in the south is Koh Lanta which has an abundance of beautiful islands and is very family friendly. We loved our time in Koh Lanta and found it very laid back and chilled.
Koh Lipe
Often called ‘The Maldives of Thailand’ and it is plain to see why; clear turquoise sea, white powder sand, beautiful traditional Thai landscape. It is an expensive island but if you’re looking for knock-out views and beaches it should be included on your itinerary.
Booking.comKoh Mook
If you are looking for quiet, peaceful, laid-back and simple then Koh Mook is your island. A completely unspoilt island that is ideal for a cheap few family days when travelling around Thailand.
Phuket
The biggest and most popular island in Thailand packed full of luxury resorts and beautiful beaches. It is the ideal location for a family holiday in Thailand and should be high on the list when deciding on your Thailand itinerary.
