An Bang Beach, Hoi An

After 11 days travelling we were in need of our happy place – the beach!

An Bang beach is a quick 10 minute taxi ride from Hoi An. If you have a bike you can easily cycle it. We weren’t really expecting much so we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The taxi drops you at a little roundabout with a supermarket and a restaurant in view so we wandered down the path next to it and came out to an expansive beach with clean, white sand stretching in every direction. There were rows of beach loungers attached to bars and restaurants that just demanded your custom. The water was a little rough in July with small waves, we wouldn’t have left the boys paddling without one of us there supervising. We had a great time splashing around, building sandcastles and watching people hunt for crabs. It wasn’t particularly busy either, lots of people but plenty of room for everyone.

We ate in both Soul Kitchen Beach Bar and Salt Bar during our few visits to An Bang Beach. Both were smarter looking bars with white furniture and music playing, serving mostly Western food, plenty of options for the kids and nice cold beer. We were hoping to see some live music at Soul Kitchen Beach Bar but unfortunately there was a thunder and lightening storm so they had to stop. We had a bit of a wait for a taxi back to the hotel, so maybe pre-arrange a time with the driver who brings you there earlier in the day to avoid a long queue.

Our happy place is the beach, the boys love the freedom of being able to run around, they make friends easily, rarely fight, dig, splash and laugh. Some of our easiest travel days are definitely those spent beach side and it is well needed to reconnect and re-energise.
