Benitses Corfu is a traditional village that was once a thriving holiday hot-spot. Today Benitses still retains its original charm. It is a lovely beachfront town that is worth spending some time in during your holiday to Corfu.
Where is Benitses Corfu?
Benitses is in the middle of Corfu island, on the east coast. It is only about a 20minute drive to Corfu town. A great location for a stay in Corfu with easy access to most areas of the island.
Benitses Beach Corfu
Benitses beach is a shingly beach but it does have a Blue Flag due to the impeccable water. There are sunbeds to rent and a lifeguard present. Bentises beach is perfect for families because of the shallow water. Discover crabs. shells and little rock pools.
Benitses Old Village
One of the most beautiful parts of Bentises Corfu is the old village which leads up towards the mountains. Benitses is a residential area with around 900 inhabitants. When you walk through the narrow streets of Benitses old town expect to find traditional Greek houses. Many colourful walls, plants and trinkets adorn the houses making it a lovely area to wander around.
Hiking in Benitses
Although we did not personally walk any trails or hikes in Benitses it is popular for these activities. There is a mountainous village of Stavros which apparently offers wonderful views of the island. Due to the mountains behind Benitses there are many walking trails on Wikilocs that would be worth checking out in cooler months. We would have loved to have explored some but the summer heat was too much!
Benitses Restaurants
Benitses Corfu has many restaurants on offer. Opposite the beach is a road full of restaurants all offering terraced seating. There is a lively atmosphere there in the evening from sunset onwards. A great mixture of cuisines with lots of lovely Greek food on offer. Expect to see a traditional Greek band in full cultural outfits walking around and serenading customers during dinner. We ate in Mythos restaurant, a Greek restaurant claiming home-made Greek food. They had options for the kids and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere.
Where to stay in Benitses
If you are looking for a great family all inclusive hotel we can recommend the Ionian Sun Hotel. It is only 5 minutes away from Bentises on the bus or by taxi (10euro). Also close to the area is the luxury 5* Angsana Corfu. Benitses is lovely town to base yourself in during your holiday to Corfu.
