Grand Millennium Muscat is a central, luxurious, reputable 5 star Family Friendly Hotel in the city center of Muscat, Oman.
Muscat, the capital of Oman is a jewel of the Middle East. A sprawling, low-rise city surrounded by mountains alongside the coast of the Arabian sea. A humble city that still maintains Arabian culture and charm. Embrace nature when in this city by hiking in the wadis, snorkelling with turtles in the coral and spotting dolphins. Experience beautiful mosques, colourful souks, historic forts and local cuisine during your time in Muscat.
To get around Muscat we would either recommend driving from the UAE if that is where you live. Alternatively, if you are flying into Muscat then it is the best idea to hire a car so that you can drive around and reach all the main sites easily. As well as the Muscat city centre attractions, Oman has many wadis that are worth visiting during your time. Check out our post on the 3 Best Wadis to visit in Oman for hiking and outdoor adventures.

Grand Millennium Muscat has a diverse range of room types to suit various preferences and budgets. From Deluxe, Club Rooms and Suites to Apartments of multiple bedrooms and even villas with private pools. This is a perfect family hotel in Muscat with so many options for large families or groups of friends.
We stayed in 2 interconnecting rooms which was ideal for privacy with the kids still being close by. We had an executive suite for us joined onto a deluxe twin room for the kids. Check out our Instagram highlights here for lots of videos. The bathroom in the suite was huge which I love, plenty of space for getting ready and a big bubble bath at the end of the night.
Having a variety of room types for all family sizes and groups is particularly appealing. A big reason why we find it the best city center hotel Muscat Oman.
Location of Millennium Grand Muscat
The location of this hotel is one of the main reasons why it gets our vote for best city centre hotel in Oman. It is positioned in the business, government and diplomatic district whilst the main sites like Sultan Qaboos Mosque, Royal Opera House, Qurum Beach and Muttrah Souk are not too far away.
One of the main plus points of the location is that this central hotel Muscat is attached to Oman’s biggest mall, Muscat Grand Mall. We enjoyed wandering into the mall for shopping, eating and entertainment.
Things to Do at Grand Millennium Hotel Muscat
Beach
Although this is a city centre hotel, Muscat Grand Millennium Hotel is the only city centre hotel to offer beach club access. With free transfers throughout the day to the beach it is the perfect place to spend a few hours. We loved relaxing on the sun loungers, playing on the beach and enjoying drinks and snacks in the sun. A true added bonus of a city centre hotel.
Roof Top Pool
The rooftop pool offers amazing 360 views over the city centre of Muscat and onto the coast. The pool is heated in winter months to enjoy a swim in the cooler times. You will find relaxing seating and sunbeds to enjoy the weather and the views.

Spa and Gym
Zanta Spa is a luxurious space in this 5 star hotel Muscat. A calm, tranquil space with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi for guests to enjoy at any time. They have many deals for in-house guests and an array of treatments on offer. The gym is separate for male and female with Techno equipment, all in the same spa area. As well as this, a barber and salon is adjacent to the spa with a full range of treatments.
Faby Land at Muscat Grand Mall
If you are looking for somewhere for the kids to let off steam and run around then a trip to Faby Land in Grand Mall Muscat is ideal. Faby Land has carousel, bumper cars, trampoline, soft play, climbing wall, swing, mini roller coaster and multiple arcade games. This was an ideal place for us to pay a visit to before dinner, build up an appetite, let off some steam so the boys could sit and enjoy dinner with us. It is a mere 5 minute walk through the walkway into the Grand Mall.
Restaurants at Millennium Grand Muscat
Taybat is the signature restaurant at this city centre hotel, Muscat. The evening buffet selection changes each night. We were lucky enough to experience sushi night and street food night, both were amazing with plenty of choice for the whole family.
Check Trip Advisor here for reviews as it is a highly rated restaurant in Muscat.
On sushi night we enjoyed not only the sushi but the noodles, rice and Asian style chicken and beef. There was an array of desserts too and we all left with full bellies! Street Food Night was our favourite with BBQ stations from Iran, Asian, Indian food, Moroccan tagine, Italian pasta and pizza and burgers cooked to order. The highlight was that it was all outside in the beautiful winter Omani weather with a brilliant Cuban duo to entertain. Half and full board options are available and definitely recommended with the delicious food on offer.
Breakfast was vast and plentiful with many hot food stations, bakery, fruit, salads and Arabic section and our favourite – a waffle and egg station to order. Our boys love breakfast and always spend a long time perusing all the options and eating everything on offer, they had to be rolled out each morning.
As well as Taybat, the Grand Millennium Muscat has an a la carte restaurant called Bahriyat for a more formal dining option with a delicious looking menu. As well as this, there are three lovely cafes; Café D in the beautiful, airy lobby that has delicious cakes and pastries. Loved all the gingerbread and festive options in December for Christmas. Mazaj Terrace is the outside seating area; perfect for lunch options like Pizza, grilled food, biriyani etc. For more local options make sure to check out Pasha Café for Arabic coffee and tea and traditional light bites.
Also loved the kids room at dinner with a children’s buffet, toys and a TV to keep the kids busy. Or take them in between courses to let off some steam! Plenty of dining options available within this city centre hotel Muscat and always the option of popping to the mall if you are looking for something else. Although, I’m not sure I would bother!
*Note that The Grand Millennium Hotel Muscat is a dry hotel meaning that there is no bar or alcohol served. Plenty of other hotels around the city do have bars if you are looking for an alcoholic drink. Taxi services are easy to come by if you do want to head out.*
