A new family-friendly resort sitting right on the gorgeous Kata beach.
We stayed at the Ozo Hotel in Kata beach for 3 nights in July 2021 and opted for the deluxe family friendly room. Kata beach was pretty quiet but there was still plenty open in the area for our stay. Sadly there were not many people staying at resort at the time when we were there but hoping that this great resort can get back on it’s feet as it has a lot to offer.
The Location
You cannot miss the Ozo Resort when driving through Kata Beach, it is on the north side of the cove just after Karon beach. It has prime location just being steps from the stunning Kata Beach and a few minutes walk into the main area of Kata where there are a few restaurants, shops and bars. It is a new, modern hotel set on beautiful green grounds.
The Room
We had a deluxe family room which had a big double bed for us and a small room off our room with bunk beds, an ideal set up. The boys were delighted with their bunk beds and it meant that we all had our own space without needing an extra bed squashed into the room. Their little room had it’s own wardrobe and desk as well so plenty of space to store away all their belongings.
We had a small balcony which is always ideal in a family room if the kids need an early night you can still get some time to yourselves without having to creep around in the dark trying not to wake them!
The Pool
The absolute highlight of this resort is the swimming pool, there is a big family pool with lots of steps and benches ideal for toddlers and also where I enjoyed sitting and reading my Kindle. There are many shaded sunbeds around the edge, plenty of space.
As well as that, there is a big waterslide and splash park which the boys absolutely LOVED – they went down time and time again making videos on the Go Pro and having the time of their lives. Watch out for our IGTV where I will be uploading some of these videos.
The resort offers a day pass so even if you’re not staying at the hotel you can visit Kata Beach for the day and have a base at the pool/beach and get the money back on F&B which is well worth it, especially if you have water slide loving kids!
Water slide Splash park Perfect spot to chill and keep an eye on the kids!
The Restaurant
We had breakfast each day which was a-la-carte and plenty of choice. I had American breakfast with poached eggs and also the pancakes, both were great. There was lots of toast, croissants, fruit, cereal as well as hot breakfast and plenty of coffee.
We had a light lunch here a couple of times the chicken satay and pizza are both ideal. But the highlight for us was the picnic on the beach….
Picnic on the Beach
Wow! What an experience. We chose the Thai Picnic where we had a choice of many different Thai dishes which were all cooked for us and packed into glass containers in a picnic basket; satay, wings, pad thai, noodles, Thai salads (beef was incredible!) and rice as well as crisps, fruit and juice. The staff in the restaurant carried over everything for us to the beach and laid it out into a full picnic set up complete with big bean-bag type cushions, mats, plates etc. We ordered a few beers which came in an ice bucket and it was all set up on the stunning Kata Beach where we watched the sunset. Such an experience.
They have 3 different price options for the picnic, all can be ordered even if not staying at the hotel just contact them directly to enquire.
The Beach
You can access the beach through a gate next to the swimming pool. It is a short walk to the beach, about 100m there are a few food trucks set up here. If you walk along the beach past all the surfers you will come to a few more street food trucks where we were able to get coconuts, pancakes and 50baht pad thai, just next to that is a small restaurant where you can get a beer looking at the beach.
Staff
The staff were amazing, everyone was so helpful, friendly and welcoming and seemed really happy to have us there during this difficult time. They couldn’t do enough for us, thank you.
This is a great hotel offering great prices, we really hope to see it do well during the reopening of Phuket as it has a lot to offer families and is a great budget friendly choice in a beautiful location.
