When looking for a hotel in Salalah for your family you are undoubtedly going to be looking for a beach resort with fantastic facilities to suit everyone. One of the longest-standing hotels in Salalah, Oman is the Crowne Plaza Salalah. In our opinion, it is the perfect hotel in Salalah to the suit the whole family. Read on for full details about our stay in this amazing Salalah hotel.
Where is the Crowne Plaza Salalah?
The Crowne Plaza Salalah is conveniently situated just 10km from Salalah International Airport, making it easily accessible for both domestic and international visitors. The hotel offers a paid shuttle bus to and from the airport, which adds more convenience. Located on the beachfront of the Arabian Sea, this 5-star hotel offers breathtaking ocean views as well as being surrounded by sprawling gardens. Providing guests a truly relaxing escape. As well as having an ideal location on the beach, it is also close to Al Baleed Archaeological Park. As well as being easily accessible to the region’s natural wonders like the famous Darbat waterfalls and Jabal Samhan mountain range.
What facilities are in the Crowne Plaza Salalah?
The main draw for a family staying in this hotel in Salalah Oman are the facilities. As soon as you walk into the opulent lobby of the hotel you will be greeted by the twinkling pool and bright, blue sea through the windows. Set alongside the Arabian sea on a beautiful, golden sandy beach with many beach beds and numerous water activities available for everyone.
The hotel boasts 3 swimming pools, one of which has a swim up bar and an infinity side with a stunning lookout over the beach and ocean. The shallow kids pool has a slide which will entertain children all day. It is ideal for parents with the water being not too deep, as well as having an adjacent splash park and playground to run around and burn off energy. Indoors there is a kids club with activities for kids of all ages with a smaller toddler soft play and an area for older kids too.
The sprawling, green areas are another plus at this hotel. Especially if you have football-mad kids like mine! There is plenty of room for children to run around kicking and chasing a ball or playing tag etc, without bothering other guests. A tennis court is also on site as well as a ‘pitch-and-putt’ style golf area if you are interested.
A large gym or fitness area is also available if you are looking to continue your workouts whilst on holiday. A sauna, jacuzzi and steam room is also on site for after your workout. As well as, of course a spa with a range of treatments.
What are the rooms like?
There are 153 rooms and suites in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Salalah. Many rooms have spectacular sea views overlooking the ocean, the most perfect sight to wake up to in the morning.
During our stay in this hotel in Salalah Oman, we stayed in a garden view room with an extra bed for the kids. This room was plenty big enough for a family of 4, although they are adjoining if you would prefer separate rooms. One thing we loved was that we had a door that opened up directly out onto the grassy, garden area and over to the kids pool. I loved waking up in the morning, opening the door and lying in bed listening to the waves crashing in the distance. As well as being able to throw the boys out onto the grass to play and run around before breakfast.
Crowne Plaza Salalah Restaurants
Darbat Restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Salalah is where breakfast is served each day. It is on the lobby level with indoor and outdoor seating and is available for lunch and dinner too. The breakfast choice is amazing with something for everyone. From salad, fruit, deli selection, hot food, cereal, pancakes, traditional Omani selection and of course, the egg station. We ate the best omelettes during our stay here and the boys woke up asking for one every day.
During the evening, we highly recommend a visit to the beachside restaurant, Ocean Blue Beach House. This restaurant is open for a-la-carte orders and serves high-quality themed buffet dinners on weekends. We were there during Ramadan and it was wonderful to attend the iftar in the evenings with the waves in the background and the traditional oud music. Again, a huge selection awaits of high quality food. We adored the lamb, the bbq section and the fresh arabic bread. The boys could not get enough of the dessert selection too. It is a really quiet, serene restaurant to spend an evening and the staff were wonderfully attentive.
Dolphin Terrazza is a terrace situated on the roof of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Salalah. An Italian pizzeria with cocktails and live music with views over the sea, perfect! Make sure to visit at sunset to watch the sun going down over the ocean and mountains in the distance.

What else is there to do in Salalah?
Salalah is a beautiful part of the world and a very unique place to spend time. If you come in the summer months between June and September you will be treated to Khareef season. The air becomes misty, the area green and the waterfalls are full. Totally unique for this part of the world.
However, Salalah is worth visiting all year round. You may not see wadi darbat waterfall in full glory outside of khareef season, but there is still plenty to see and do. Explore the mountains, visit the wadis, spend time on the beach, visit Al Baleed Archeological centre and the rugged west coast beaches.
