The Greek island of Corfu is a popular escape for families looking for sunshine, beaches and fun. Situated on the Ionian Sea it is full of gorgeous beaches and hotels. It can be difficult to choose the best family hotel to stay in. From our experience, Louis Ionian Sun Hotel is the best all inclusive family hotel in Corfu. Read on to find out why…
Location
This is one of the most important decisions when choosing a family holiday. Being next to a beach was one of our top priorities. Having a good position to explore the island is also important. Louis Ionian Sun Hotel offers all of this as being the best all inclusive family hotel in Corfu. It is also close to the village of Benitses where there is another beach and a little area to explore. As well as being only around 20mins to Corfu Old Town and the airport. We have never seen sea cleaner or clearer than at the Louis Ionian Sun Hotel.
Facilities
One of the next items on the list for making the best all inclusive family hotel in Corfu is a great pool. Preferably with waterslides to keep the kids fully entertained. The Louis Ionian Sun has this covered with a main pool and plenty of sunbeds. As well as the main pool, there is a separate kids pool which is not too deep with 2 waterslides. The pools are surrounded by the beautiful greenery of Corfu. A lot of our time was spent at the children’s pool with the kids splashing around and happy. Parents also enjoying themselves with drinks and ice-lollies from the all inclusive pool bar.
Food and Drink
It is important to understand what the food and beverage package includes before arriving. This package was one of the best we have seen in an all inclusive family hotel in Corfu. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant was a buffet style with a different theme each night for dinner. There was so much choice as well as being plenty on offer for the kids. As well as the buffet there was food at the beach taverna throughout the day. A late breakfast, fresh gyros cooked every lunchtime and afternoon sandwiches if you fancy a day at the beach.
The drinks package had a range of cocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks and juices. The beauty of it was the help yourself beer and wine taps meaning there was less queues and no waiting around. The kids loved the ice cream available all day every day too. Nothing more that we could have wanted!
Rooms
We had a sea facing family room on the top floor and the views were incredible. It is worth getting up for the sunrise one morning to see the sun peeping over the Greek mountains in the distance. Our room was big with a double bed and 2 single beds, a large double sink bathroom and a huge balcony. Having space when travelling is so important for us and this room was one of the best we have seen in an all inclusive family hotel in Corfu.
Activities
As well as the amazing waterslides there is a children’s playground next to the kids pool. The kids club has daily activities and entertainment, there are pool tables and water sports at the beach. Each evening at the rooftop bar there is different evening entertainment from karaoke, dancing and bingo.
Budget
For a 4* Hotel on an all inclusive basis this hotel offers a great price. It is available on a package holiday with TUI and other tour operators. However, for the best deals it is always best to go direct with Louis Hotels on their website.
Staff
The reception staff are really helpful with great advice for where to go to explore the island, bus timetables, car hire, booking taxis and anything else we needed. The restaurant staff work so hard, they are really friendly and learn to recognise you during your stay. They made time to come over and say hello, ask how the day has gone and speak to the kids. Small things like that really help to make your stay in an all inclusive family hotel in Corfu.
Around Corfu
The island of Corfu is beautiful and well worth exploring. Jump on the bus outside the hotel for Euro1.60 into Corfu Old Town to wander round the beautiful streets at night. Hiring a car and exploring the many beaches and areas of Corfu is highly recommended. There are many care hire places close by in Benitses and the hotel even has a car hire representative on site. We also did a boat trip to Paxos and Antipaxos which was a wonderful day out and highly recommended.
