Paradise Beach

It felt like we had arrived at Paradise. A white, powdery soft, sandy cove only 15minutes from Patong.

Paradise beach club looks like it used to be a very popular place to visit, beach parties, DJs and big events. Sadly, in July 2021 everything is shut except the bar on the beach.

We arrived by taxi (300bht from Patong hotel) to the top of the hill where we paid entrance fee which included a sun bed and soft drink for 100baht, the kids were free. The sheriff, a Thai man dressed in a cowboy outfit complete with a sheriff star, drove us down the hill in a tuk tuk.

There was a little village area with surf shops, souvenir shops, bar which was all closed down and shuttered up. A sight we are now well accustomed to seeing in Phuket unfortunately.

Walking out to the beautiful beach was like walking into a postcard. Coconut trees lined the shore, powder white sand, turqouise sea and little rocky caves each end of the cove. Incredible.

We settled onto the sunbeds for the day whilst the kids ran around happily on the beach. The sea was rough with a bit of a ledge as you get into the water, also lots of rocks making it difficult to swim or snorkel.

On the left are some steps leading over to an even more secluded cove, the sand even softer, the water even bluer and no rocks in the sea. Just wear shoes when walking across or you will get attacked by ants – we designed the ‘ant challenge game’ with the kids and all ran over as quickly as we could. Worth it!

There are no rocks in the sea on this side and you can walk into the water on soft sand, there is a swing and many white and hermit crabs runaround the shore which the boys had great delight in chasing.

We had some lunch; fried rice, pad Thai, a few beers and drinks and overall a perfect few hours on the beach. By the time we left, around 3pm, there were about 15-20 other people there which in these times is always great to see.

As sad as it is to see tourism suffering so badly here, we do take days like this gladly. Spending a day on paradise with only a handful of other people…..
