Hotels are numbered in the order we stayed on the island, not our preference, we loved them all! So this article also gives you a handy Phuket itinerary.
1. Angsana Laguna Phuket
It is impossible to fault the Angsana Laguna Phuket. It has swimming pools snaking around the entire resort with plenty of shallow spots for the kids. As well as being a beachfront hotel located on the stunningly beautiful Bang Tao beach. Bang Tao is 3km and one of the longest beaches in Phuket. Do not miss the sunsets!
It has large family rooms, initially we stayed in a 2-bedroom pool suite room with a private pool on the balcony overlooking the large lagoon. Check our Instagram Reel here.
For the second half of the week we moved to a 2-bedroom lagoon suite which also looked over the ample lagoon. Both rooms were huge and made for perfect family rooms in Phuket.
It has an amazing kids club which caters for all ages and is right next to the heavenly spa. So leave the kids for an hour and go for one of the best Thai massages in Phuket!
Wonderful breakfast, plentiful dinner choices, great kids club, water sports and helpful staff make the Angsana Laguna Phuket an ideal family hotel in Phuket.
It is also in a great location. Laguna Phuket has a fairly big town with restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Another bonus is that the airport is only 20minutes away. Read a more detailed review on the Angsana Laguna Phuket here.

2. Grand Mercure, Patong
Patong may not be the usual family area of choice in Phuket. However, it has a wonderful beach, plenty of watersports and is the perfect base to explore the rest of the island.
The Grand Mercure Hotel in Patong is a peaceful, urban jungle in the middle of a busy town. As well as hotel rooms, the hotel has lots of villas which make the perfect family rooms in Phuket. We stayed in a 1-bedroom villa where the sofa bed was turned into a kids bed. It also had a small private pool that was ideal for some privacy.
There is a small kids pool with a slide, as well as, a great shallow end in the bigger pool with a swim up bar for the adults! Right next to the pool is a decent kids club room where the kids can cool off from the sun. Conveniently it is also adjacent to a lovely spa so you can sneak off and leave the kids attended whilst you have a massage.
The breakfast in this hotel was like a banquet, there were so many different choices and we were spoilt for choice every day. Topped off with welcoming, helpful staff and it makes a perfect family friendly hotel in Phuket. You can read a more detailed review of the Grand Mercure Patong here.
3. Ozo Hotel, Kata Beach
Ozo Hotel is a child’s paradise! It has its own splash park with water slides and is steps away from the beach. Our boys absolutely loved it here. They have family rooms with bunk-beds in a separate part of the room giving enough space for the whole family. You can see our Instagram Reel here.
The breakfast is right next to the pool, ideal for coffee in peace whilst the kids play. We highly recommend the sunset picnic on the beach, organised by the hotel, which is a magical experience.
The Ozo Hotel is great budget-friendly, family hotel in Phuket in a beautiful location. You can read a more detailed review on the Ozo Hotel here.
4. Le Meridien, Karon Beach
Le Meridien was one of the first resort hotels on Phuket and it is on a sprawling, green space with a secluded beach. The hotel has large swimming pools with plenty of shallow ends for the kids as well as a kids pool. Le Meridien Hotel has an abundance of facilities like mini golf, tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, Mai Thai, boules and a driving range amongst others.
The kids club was the best we came across in Phuket. It was large with plenty of toys, an outside space with a trampoline, basketball, tennis and Playstations and gaming areas inside. They had a huge selection of organised activities each day from cooking, beach games and art activities. The kids were spoilt for choice and didn’t want to leave.
We opted for adjoining rooms which worked perfectly and allowed for a lot of space. A great family room option in Phuket. The rooms overlooked the bay and ocean and was a delight to wake up to the views. The sunset was not to be missed either!
Breakfast was a feast, there was so much choice. We went for the full-board option which allowed for a great selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner and we didn’t eat the same meal twice. You can read more about our stay here.
Le Meridien Hotel is definitely one of the best family hotels in Phuket!
5. Vijitt Resort, Rawai
The Vijitt Resort should definitely be part of your itinerary when in Phuket. Rawai is a town in the south and is different to the other areas. It still has a great local Thai feel to it.
The Vijitt Resort has a series of private villas with some offering private pools in a true jungle, beachfront escape. There is so much green space whilst overlooking the ocean. The villas are spacious family rooms, we stayed in a deluxe villa with an extra bed for the kids which was more than enough space for the family. The balcony was surrounded with trees full of birds and made for an idyllic way to wake up every day.
The infinity pool area was a standout feature for us with the palm trees, green space and ocean in the background. It has steps and is shallow enough for the kids too. (Check out our Reel on Instagram here of the hotel).
The Vijitt Resort also has a great kids club with a ball pit, organised activities and big outside park. The kids can be checked into the kids club so can stay there supervised to give you a bit of adult time.
The restaurant has a beautiful, traditional Thai wooden décor with stunning views. We ate great Thai food for dinner in the evening. The breakfast was plentiful with a buffet and options to order off the menu.

Located on a secluded bay on the east-side of Phuket only 15minutes from Phuket Town. The Westin has 3 infinity pools overlooking the ocean which make for a truly relaxing stay. The pools have lots of steps and shallow ends which make it ideal for the kids.
The Sala Pool Apartments are incredible for a special family room in Phuket. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a large living space, private pool and a rooftop terrace. There was so much space we didn’t feel the need to leave the room too often!
There is a kids club on site with staff that will look after the kids for you. They have lots of toys and TVs and organised activities throughout the day.
The breakfast is like a dinner buffet with all kinds of food on offer with the most spectacular views over the sea.
